Requirements

Choose the machine that runs your agents, then check what it needs. Your browser and your agent machine have different jobs.

Where agents runWhat you need
Your MacThe Miko Mac app on macOS 13 or later, and the provider accounts you use. Codex and Antigravity need a Mac with Apple silicon.
Your Linux serverA supported Ubuntu or Debian VM or server, root access for installation, and outbound internet access.
Miko CloudA Miko account with access to a Cloud machine. You connect through the web app; agents run on that machine.

The web app controls connected machines. Closing its tab does not stop the agents running on them. A local Mac terminal runs on your Mac; it needs that Mac to stay running.

CheckRequiredRecommended or context
Operating systemUbuntu 24.04 or 26.04; Debian 12 or 13Install on the VM or server itself. Docker, LXC, Podman and WSL are refused.
Processorarm64, or x86_64 with AVX2The installer refuses an x86_64 CPU without AVX2, which Claude Code needs.
Memory2 GB4 GB or more. Leave headroom for agents and project builds.
Free disk3 GB on the filesystems used by /usr and /home10 GB or more, plus space for your repositories and build output.
SystemLinux 5.14+, glibc 2.36+, systemd 252+, cgroup v2 with the memory and pids controllersThe installer refuses cgroup v1 and systems without those two controllers.
Bootstrap toolscurl, OpenSSL, tar, gzip and GNU coreutilsRun as root, or use sudo or doas when the installer asks.

The installer checks these requirements before applying the installation. Its limits are installation thresholds, not a promise that a particular number of agents or a large build will fit.

Use the Mac app’s Provider setup to check and install Codex, Claude Code, Grok Build, OpenCode and Antigravity, then sign in to each account. Provider setup offers Install only when a build exists for your Mac. Codex’s verified builds and Antigravity’s reviewed CLI are for Apple silicon only, so an Intel Mac can’t run them in Miko. A global CLI upgrade does not replace Miko’s pinned Codex runtime.

OpenCode also runs API keys from many other providers. See Agents, accounts and API keys for what runs where.

The Mac app includes its application runtime and local database. You do not need to install a database server or check out Miko’s source. Git is needed for Git operations; GitHub actions use gh and its own sign-in.

Install ripgrep (rg) on the Mac. Miko’s Codex installation brings ripgrep for Codex itself, but shell commands your agents run on a clean Mac do not have rg unless you install it.

Use Chrome or Edge 137 or later, Firefox 130 or later, or Safari 17 or later. Sign in to Miko and approve the device when asked. Your AI provider account is a separate sign-in.
